The Underdog Part 7; Thunderstorms

A water droplet that played merrily into immense blue that covered most of the earth, metamorphosed into vapor as the summer approached. Beginning its journey across that extensive blue, exploring lands of desert, forests, and mountains. This vapor gathered at the crowd that was already forming and thickening. This time the vapor metamorphosed again into the small droplet, cooled by the air that signaled the arrival of the monsoon. And, as happens with the gathering of people, clustered together the vapor started fighting over the real estate of air. This bickering led to fights and shoutings while these smallest bickerings were not as loud as when the clusters themselves, when these gathered and fought for ever-shrinking real estate, they were the loudest. This dance of sound was a Thunderstorm.

Ofcourse when  all this was transpiring above....here on earth, under the safety of pipe, cozied three our lovely Pawteers, shivering and startling at the thunderous sound, the sky looked grimme with clouds clustering and roarings, flashes of lightening near and far added an extra highlights to this sonorous orchestra. Raggy who was as courages as chipmunk, would out of curiosity come near the mouth of pipe, and gaze on the darkening sky, a loud thunder, would then send him back to his nest cowing his courage. Goldie, liked rain but she was timid and feared the sounds of thunder, they startled her, she was the most uncomfortable of all, startling everytime the thunder roared, getting up and searching for better place to lesson the noise of thunder in her ears. Browny, who neither feared thunder nor startled, was annoyed at Goldies's behavious, he growl at her to show her his discomfort. He was worried about something else. Our browny was not afraid of anything but water and he rather prefer a roasting heat than a cooling drench.

So, when our water droplet laden heavy with water, could not hold its place among clouds, it jumped from the cloud, reaching down with as much speed as gravity allowed and it landed, right on the nose tip of Browny, who came to the mouth of the pipe to enquire about the water that always followed these thunderous sounds. When his most sensitive nose was hit by the droplet, Browny jumped back, barking at the invisible force, he saw inform of rains that would follow this droplet. Both Goldie and Raggy were astonoished at his behaviour, calm until now, Browny was the one who was cooing and barking and was nervous. This led him to the flashback of floods that almost drowned him at the garbage dump. It so happpened, years of garbage pile up had stiffened the mound and no water then could seep throught. this created gush of torrents that would soon form small rivulets and run to the lowest part of the dump. Browny and his siblings along with their mother, lived amond one of the make shift garbage cave that had formed by garbage pilling upon broken corrugated box. and when the water arrived it, destroyed the only home he knew, the water rushed throught the openings, flooding the cave and small as they were all the puppies yelp for the fear of death is instictually imbibed in every living soul on earth. Their mother, a devoted bitch, did all she could, she ran here and there to find the way to save her home but when she could not do so, she picked each of her puppies by the neck and carried them to the safety almost all the puppies were take to a rather hilly mound that offered some safety against the floods that were running wild in the dump. When she looked backed at her litter, her motherly instincts could tell her that one puppy was missing and she climbed the small hill down and jumped into gushing rivulet which was now flowing with much greater force. Browny, who was afraid, went into the farthest corner of this cave, which was far more dangerous as the water was closing on all sides, although he could see his mother carry his siblings away, he could not call out to her due to the shock. A quiet death awaited him if not for his mother, who although late arrived at the moment when water was filling the nostrils of Browny, she with the quickness of swift and grip like that of an hawk, carried her most timid and most vulnerable of her puppies to the hill. Browny could not bark or yelp, he just vommitted the water and sought the safety of his mothers womb, shivering and in shock.

Unaware of this, Goldie and Raggy, wanted browny to stop yelping and barking as it served no purpose but to unnerve them. when the thunder stopped its place was taken by the pattering of huge droplet which unlike our little droplet managed to hold on longer growing bigger and heavier. This patter of rains brought a small stream of water into the pipe, and this not only unnerved Browny more, but now he stopped barking and yelping. He stood shivering in silence as the episode of his drowning paralysed him. slowly the small stream was turning into rivulet that gushed water inside the pipe. The pipe which was a old discared part of on canal, only flooded in the rains and Raggy who made his shelter in the pipe in the summer was unaware of this. The water soon was rushing fast to find a low point, the placement of pipe which had a mouth open on one side was closed due to earth mound on the other end. This stopped running water and it started collecting inside the pipe. Raggy immediately sensing oncoming consequence of collecting water, rushed out barking drenching in the rains, the incessant rains was blurring the vision and through this blurry vision Raggy who was expert in find anything found a place that was relativly dry ...He barked twice urging Goldie and Browny to follow and went to the dry place, Goldie, who followed Raggy to the mouth of the pipe, looked back to see if Browny was following her, but upon seeing browny looking at rising water at his feet shivering and doing nothing...Goldie knew something was not right.. She barked and barked and barked, urging Browny to wake up and follow her to safety. Her bark, called Raggy back and upon knowing the situation our little courageous browny jumped in the pipe, water was now up to his chest and he could hear Goldie jumping back into the water following him. They both swam toward the Browny, paralysed as he was and pull him in the water, Browny aware of their efforts of saving him, resisted still. this went on and now they all were sort of drowning, and this led Raggy to pull the tail of browny and drag him through water to the pipe mouth and later when they were all out of danger bark angrily at him. Goldie, when she arrived at the mouth of the pipe, barked assuredly and urged Browny that all was well, and they have to go the dry place since she was afraid of thunderstorms she could relate to the fear and state of Browny.

Courage came, it came slowly as the rains gave way to little light and glowed in all its glorry and the droplets here and there on the leafs  and sheafs of grass resembled diamonds and sparkled with such luminance that one was lost in their beauty. The three shivering pawteers had weathered a thunderstorm. and when they looked at each other, they knew at that moment and although they lost thier home in the thunderstorm, they had found in each other a paradise of safety.
