The Underdog Part 5; Nemesis.

Life was a gift to these Pawteers of ours. they ruled their tiny pipe kingdom and enjoyed its fortunes, the pipe that lay there corroding away to the weather and time was their palace, a stronghold, that provided them with both safety and comfort. But like all the happiness that only lasts for a sliver of time theirs too lasted as much, for they were being watched by Blackie, a ferocious Doberman, who survived until today only due to its agility and ferocity. He wasn't alone or have had any misfortune, Blackie ran from his owner's house when just for a small thing like the little kid of the owner taking his favorite ball, he bit his owner's son and ran from the house. Promising himself to never come back. When Blackie arrived on the outskirts of the city he too faced the same challenges as our dear Browny did, but his reaction to those challenges was altogether different from that of Browny.

Blackie, grew up wanting everything for himself, his world was a world of selfishness, there was no sharing, and he would have the juiciest and succulent meat parts while others who so expectantly follow his leadership, would be left to chew whatever Blackie choose to leave behind. He despised filth, as he was accustomed to clean surroundings, this led him to capture an abandoned house, a shy old dog who used to live there before was found by the dumpster, dead. All the dogs in the area who knew the shy old dog...smelled crime but on the mound there, on the path of the abandoned house stood Blackie, growling. No dogs had the courage to go after Blackie, they all feared him and Blackie ruled the mound as a despotic dog. All the dogs that passed by the mound paid tribute to him or otherwise faced its wrath.

But even Achilles had a chink in the armor, and so did Blackie. He was too afraid inside, he never let anyone befriend him. He would remain alone most of the time or walk with his lackeys following but no dog in a sane world would call him a friend.  And when Blackie saw these merry Pawteers enjoying and having a friendship he so detested, for friendship meant sacrificing and giving away dear things. He felt rage surge in him and he wouldn't stop growling. That day he visited pipe and when he saw them merry making this dog, who had everything a loving owner, a house, a comfortable bed, and who for the selfishness of him, threw it all away.

He growled scorn and vowed to see them suffer, he looked back and his lackeys, the dogs of all sizes who lived on this mercy and pittance. Look at him expectantly and when receiving an indication, they all followed him back to the mound. Today is not the day, they will have to wait and that wait won't be long.

-----

Unaware of all this, The Pawteers who were playing a game of tail pulling, barked happily and when Browny saw some shadow vanish out of sight, he looked at it long, soon Raggie and Goldie saw him during their play and went to enquire. He couldn't put his paw on the thing but he thought they were in danger and it might be time to move from this pipe. At this, both Raggie and Goldie barked laughingly pulling his tail and ears, assuring him that there was nothing to be afraid of, and even though Browny, went to play with his playmates again.. His mind was busy thinking about the lurking shadow.
