New Beginnings

Now that the new year beckons us for our new tryst with life, we must prepare for a year to come. These last couple of years has changed human societies and how they function.  No virus in history has so radically brought the change to the lives of humans as SARS-CoV-2 or simply Covid-19. Today, as the world is coping slowly with its new mutations and variants, the virus is becoming more drug-resistant. The world of viruses is as large and unknown as the universe we live in, many viruses are unknown to us. In the world of virology, we have merely scratched the surface. But this should not deter us from our common goal. we as a race, by our sheer intellect, have strived and triumphed over the process of natural selection.

Sometimes the morning is the most beautiful after the darkest of the night. This is evident from the way vaccines are made on a global scale, its research and trials surpassed the speeds of old vaccine programs. Previously taking intensive and exhaustive work, now has been supplanted by new AI technologies, the decade has become the year. The advancement of medical sciences has truly come to the rescue in spirit and indeed.

This was about the medical aspect of the year, how about emotionally? The year has taken perhaps most of the toll on emotions. Most people during global lockdown went through depression, stress, and anxiety. Perhaps the most evident example of this can be asserted from the way mass burnout has resulted in mass resignations at workplaces in countries around the world. No living thing can live in a constant state of stress, clinically if a mouse is subjected to constant stress, it shows the signs of withdrawal, inactivity, and often hyperactivity resulting in the conscious comatose stage.

Burnout due to stress can be tackled by getting time to recuperate from stressful situations but if you are experiencing anxiety and stress, or you are going through depression a psychologist or psychiatrist can be your good friend. He/She can guide you to overcome depression. People resorting to mind-numbing agents like alcohol or drugs to fight off this depression are actually adding fuel to the fire, these agents do not help in any way rather aggravate the already dire problems. Also, under the influence of such agents, you often make matter worse than before.

The best way to work around stress, anxiety, and depressions, is somewhat clinical and emotional. First and foremost make time for yourself. Go outside, most people suffering from such situations tend to avoid social contact, but dear friends, life is outside, it's where you will find purpose and determination to do good. Go on a get-together with friends, catch up with them all, for they too might be thinking the same way as you. Most of us, carry the burden of the guilt, our mistakes, our follies are all added up the make the burden cumbersome yet we keep adding. First, try and rectify your mistakes, if you can't apologize humbly, for it lessen the load if not take it out altogether. Do not overthink problems, but do a search for alternative solutions at the same time.

This is all that time allows me to talk about but you will get there, just do it, one step at a time.
