When the loose skin sac held it safe in the amniotic sea, the mind was born, it wasn't having the shape, that most of us who are familiar with geometric or design concepts would recall. It was a floating lump of grey tissues. It did not have an awareness of its claustrophobic surroundings as it was yet to grow. So alone and in a tightly contained sac of skin, the mind was born. Those who suffer from social withdrawal or from group anxiety would relate much to the mind's current state.
How did the mind cope with such a claustrophobic environment of loneliness? Well, it was afraid like all of us, like when we suddenly become cautious about impending perils when the lights go out. It was unaware of the heart that was playing outside pumping in and out the red fluid of life. Do we not have such an acquaintance, a friend, or a neighbor who is engaged in activities that we think are just out of our league.
But let's not waste our time on the mind's claustrophobia, our mind is yet to start its adventure we are all but 6 months far when oxygenated blood would flow through the rapidly expanding grey cells whose neural synapses will be firing at a rate that will equal that of a splitting atom. Our mind is embarking on an adventure. It registers the first touch of its mother, her smell, her voice, and the warmth of her body. The sweet taste of her milk and the gentle caress of her soft hands. Yet it is not satisfied, it is angry at the doctor, who made him upside down and slapped him on the bum, our mind just got its first spanking... Mind was wondering what mistake did it do to deserve such a harsh punishment. It will prepare an act of elaborate revenge in the next few minutes, but the body that is at its command is so fragile and weak that it is too busy learning new things. The smacking is never avenged.
We all fear punishment, not in the literal sense of a wronged deed, but also from the deeds done in past, or for some superstitious persons even the deeds done in the past life. Are we afraid of the doctor of the universe and the punishment of him smacking our souls for the wrongs we have done...? Well, the question demands mindful scrutiny.
Our mind is rapidly developing a personality and it has just completed one revolution around the perpetual(Really? ) light called the sun. It likes some person's touch, smell, and voice while it hates all others. It is possessive and demands all the attention and love of its mother (hence the constant crying). And when it is angry it displays by dirtying the sheets that its mother so carefully weaved for him. For the mind, this is an ultimate weapon. So when it is uncomfortable in some social situation, expect the wrath of its anger and a lot of dirty nappies..!
The mind was too shy at first but when it breathed its first oxygen, it performed a coup d'état, and the heart was dethroned from the power over the body. The heart, being a gentleman was so embarrassed that it chose not to take any part in management yet it continued to contribute to the growth and maintenance of the body. The heart's withdrawal was the mind's victory and the heart's involuntary actions were now under his total control.
The super autocratic Mind controlled everything in the house called the body, the things to see, the things to touch, feel, sense, and speak it dictated the terms and others followed. The house called body was officially in a fascist regime. It did whatever mind commanded, it not only served its desires but also worked tirelessly for its ambitions and aspirations.
These subjects of the body were working day in day out and the mind was enjoying every bit of it...and when 70 revolutions of the sun were done, the body one day unionized and gave up. Mind asked to see a beautiful rose in the garden it visited all the time in the evening but the legs gave up, they cracked and squeaked and raised their voices with joints (union of bones) and as an overwhelmed and frustrated management of a bigger corporation would do, mind gave in to their demands. soon every other unit of the body raised their voices. The heart that was so frustrated and depressed for such a long time, that one day it just stopped. The mind realized at that very moment that what it considered its personal fief was a present from humble serfs that served the body. they worked under his direction not by hopelessness but by choice and when the darkness started surrounding the mind it was again afraid. For this time, the doctor is not going to be a normal one in some corner dispensary. This doctor is the doctor of the universe and this doctor has smacked the souls of countless minds, who in their arrogance forgot the real job of enjoying life with the help of all the body parts.
In these misadventures, the mind worked on his selfish dreams, it envied friends and family, it lusted after the wrong people, its greed got the heart depressed and its desires tired the body.
If the mind could only have enjoyed the partnership with the heart and shared the power of thought with it. It would have known the beautiful life in its entirety. If it had not ordered eyes, ears, and tongue to its whims, it would have seen, heard, and spoken the most beautiful of things.
Mind adventures turned misadventures in the end.
Can we all think and order our minds to point north on the moral compass? Can we put our minds to doing better things like alleviating the pain of the suffered, or helping people..? Can our minds become more humane?
The answer; Yes it can. We can order our minds to work on the general good because this hypocritical and ruthless mind is also the one that is afraid and misled about its existence. It is insecure and needs a real friend and only you who can think will be able to help it.
